STY021 too-many-arguments

warning opt-in

A procedure has more than 8 dummy arguments.

Why

Long argument lists are easy to call with arguments in the wrong order (same types, positional calls) and usually mean that several arguments belong together: group them in a derived type.

Reported

fortran
subroutine flux(q, ni, nj, nk, ng, dx, dy, dz, gamma, r)

Preferred

fortran
subroutine flux(q, grid, gas)

Suppressing

For one occurrence, with the reason on the same line (or alone on the line before the statement):

fortran
! fobis: ignore[STY021] <why this occurrence is fine>

For the whole project, ignore = STY021 in the fobos [lint] section.

Equivalent

Fortitude rule S902 (see Lint Rules).
