PRT031 invalid-tab

warning enabled by default

Tab characters in Fortran code (reported once per file).

Why

Tab is not in the Fortran character set. Compilers accept it with a warning (or interpret it specially in fixed form), and its width differs between editors, which breaks fixed-form column rules. Use spaces.

Reported

fortran
x = 1

Preferred

fortran
x = 1

Suppressing

For one occurrence, with the reason on the same line (or alone on the line before the statement):

fortran
! fobis: ignore[PRT031] <why this occurrence is fine>

For the whole project, ignore = PRT031 in the fobos [lint] section.

Equivalent

Fortitude rule PORT031 (see Lint Rules).
